We also administer related Company Pages for operating companies in our group, including Trades Labour Corporation (TLC Victoria). When this policy talks about “our Company Pages,” it includes those pages we are authorized to administer.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information we collect:
- on blueanvil.ca and related landing pages we operate;
- when you email, call, text, or fill in a form to reach us;
- when you apply to work with us or we discuss placing you with a client;
- when you are a client, supplier, or other business contact;
- from our own LinkedIn Company Pages, through LinkedIn’s official tools and APIs, as described in section 4.
It does not cover websites, apps, or pages we do not control, including LinkedIn’s own consumer service. LinkedIn’s handling of member data is described in LinkedIn’s privacy policy.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Name, company, email, phone number, and the content of your message (contact forms, email, phone, SMS).
- What you are looking for — for example hiring tradespeople, joining our team, or a general question.
- If you apply to join us: work history, tickets and certifications, availability, and anything else you send in an application or interview.
- If you are a client or supplier: business contact details, project and site information needed to deliver the work, and billing details.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser type, referring URL, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP address.
- Standard server and analytics logs from our website host and measurement tools (see section 7).
Information from other sources
- Public business listings and directories, when we need to confirm a company or contact.
- Our own Company Page analytics from LinkedIn, as set out in section 4.
We do not buy marketing lists of individuals, and we do not scrape LinkedIn member profiles for outreach.
4. LinkedIn Company Pages and analytics
We use LinkedIn’s official Community Management and related Marketing APIs, and LinkedIn’s native Company Page analytics, to measure how our own Company Pages and organic posts perform. This is an internal reporting use. We do not post, comment, like, or message LinkedIn members through these APIs.
Through those official LinkedIn tools we may receive:
- Page-level metrics: page views, clicks, follower counts, and follower growth over time.
- Post-level organic metrics: impressions, unique impressions, clicks, reactions, comments, shares, and engagement rates for posts published on Company Pages we administer.
We use that data to:
- understand which of our posts reached people;
- keep an internal content ledger for marketing reporting;
- improve the usefulness of what we publish on our Company Pages.
We do not, through these APIs:
- collect LinkedIn member profile fields (name, headline, photo, email, or profile URL of people who viewed or engaged with a post);
- build contact lists from LinkedIn;
- store comments or reactions in a way that identifies the LinkedIn member who made them;
- sell, rent, or share LinkedIn analytics with unrelated third parties;
- use LinkedIn data to advertise to individual members off LinkedIn.
Access is limited to Page administrators who have granted OAuth access, and to the internal operators who run our reporting. Tokens and credentials are stored as secrets, not in public repositories. Aggregated page and post metrics may be kept in internal files and boards used for marketing operations.
If you engage with a Blue Anvil or TLC Victoria post on LinkedIn, LinkedIn is the controller of your member account. We only see the aggregate and post-performance numbers LinkedIn provides to Page admins, plus whatever is already visible to us as Page admins in LinkedIn’s own interface.
5. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- respond to inquiries and provide labour leasing services;
- assess applications and, if you join us, administer the working relationship (payroll, safety, scheduling, and related operations);
- communicate with clients, tradespeople, and suppliers about assignments and sites;
- operate, secure, and improve our website;
- measure our own marketing, including Company Page performance as described above;
- send business communications where Canadian law allows, including where we have consent or an existing business relationship under CASL;
- meet legal, tax, insurance, workers’ compensation, and safety obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
6. When we share information
We share personal information only as needed:
- Clients and host sites — name, tickets, and assignment details required for a tradesperson to work on a job, when you have been assigned or proposed for that work.
- Service providers — companies that host our website (Squarespace), process forms and email, provide analytics (Google), provide our Company Page platform (LinkedIn / Microsoft), and run internal operations tools. They may process data only to provide their service to us.
- Regulators and insurers — when law, a safety investigation, workers’ compensation, or insurance requires it.
- Professional advisors — accountants and similar advisors under confidentiality, where the work requires it.
- Business transfers — if we reorganize or transfer operations, information may move with the business under this policy.
Some providers are in the United States or other countries. When information leaves Canada, it may be accessed under the laws of that country. We use providers we consider appropriate for the nature of the data.
7. Cookies and measurement
Our site and its host may set cookies or similar technologies for security, load, and basic analytics. We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to understand traffic and search performance. Google may process this data under its own terms. You can limit some analytics through your browser settings or Google’s opt-out tools.
We do not use LinkedIn’s APIs to drop cookies on LinkedIn members’ browsers. LinkedIn may use cookies on its own site when you visit LinkedIn; that is LinkedIn’s processing, not ours.
8. How long we keep it
- Website inquiries: as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable follow-up period, then as required for our records.
- Client, assignment, payroll, and safety records: for the working relationship and the retention period required by tax, employment, and safety rules in British Columbia.
- Applications that do not proceed: for a limited period so we can consider you for a later role, unless you ask us to delete them sooner and we are not required to keep them.
- LinkedIn page and post analytics: aggregated metrics in our internal ledger for marketing reporting; we do not keep member-level LinkedIn profiles from the APIs.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for the sensitivity of the information: access limited to people who need it, credentials stored as secrets, and reputable processors for hosting and email. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach that meets the notice threshold under applicable law, we will notify the people and authorities required.
10. Your choices and rights
Subject to limits in PIPA and other applicable law, you may ask us to:
- tell you whether we hold personal information about you;
- give you access to it;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent, including commercial electronic messages;
- ask us to delete information we are not required to keep.
Send the request to hr@blueanvil.ca. We may need to confirm it is you. We will respond within the time PIPA requires. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia at oipc.bc.ca.
11. Children
Our website and services are for businesses and working-age tradespeople. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top will change. The current version will always be posted at blueanvil.ca/privacy.
